1Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay

These are the two first climbers to ever stepped their foot on Mount Everest. At 11:30am of May 29th, 1953, Edmund and Tenzing broke their first record of climbing the highest mountain in the world. Edmund Hillary was from New Zealand, and Tenzing Norgay is from Nepal.

Edmund passed away on January 11th, 2008 at the age of 89 years old. This man filled his life with adventures to different places in the world. He has also published a lot of books talking about his journeys as well.

Tenzing passed away on May 9th, 1986 at the age of 76 years old. He was known as a Nepali Sherpa Mountaineer due to his adventures. He was the most experienced Everest veteran ever back then. H had participated in 6 different attempts to climb the mountain.
They made a great team together which led to such success. Edmund Hillary stated in one of his books that, “With little hope I looked around for some sign that they had reached the summit, but could see nothing.” He referred to the 2 British climbers who have set their journey before them yet vanished without a clue.

2Junko Tabei

This my friend, was the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. As a matter of fact, she was the first woman to ascend all seven summits by climbing the highest peak on every continent. Junko was a Japanese mountaineer who began climbing mountains since she was 10. This amazing woman spent almost her whole life adventuring on mountains in the world. Till 16th of May in 1975, she became the first woman to successfully climbed Mount Everest. Junko Tabei passed away on October 20th, 2016 from cancer at the age of 77.

3Yuichiro Miura

He climbed Mount Everest not once, but twice with the same record as the oldest person to reach Mount Everest’s summit. He was a Japanese alpinist with huge dreams. When he was 70 years old, he became the oldest person to successfully climbed Mount Everest once in 2003. After 2 heart surgeries, he broke his own record at the age of 80. He was also the first person to ski on Mount Everest as well! He was born on 12th of October, 1932 and passed away at the age of 84.

4Jordan Romero

Jordan became the youngest person to climb Mount Everest when he 13 years 10 months and 10 days old in 2010. Like Junko, he also successfully completed the Seven Summits of climbing highest mountains in all continents. That makes him the youngest climber in the world to ever complete the Seven Summits at the age of 15. The experience of climbing Mount Everest brought him the idea of writing books about it. He also has another attempt to climb the highest point in each state of his hometown in the U.S as well.

5Malavath Purna

Apart from the youngest boy, we also have the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest as well. In 2014, Malavath owned her record of the youngest girl to reach the summit of the highest mountain. She was 13 years and 11 months old, only a month older than Jordan. There was also a movie based on the life story of this incredible Indian girl as well. It released this year, and the movie titled “Poorna: Courage Has No Limit”.

6Erik Weihenmayer

He made a history for being the first blind person to reach the summit of Everest on 5th of May, 2001. By September 2002, he completed the Seven Summits, and he was the first blind person to achieved this. Erik is an American athlete, adventurer, author, activist, and a very inspiring speaker. Diagnosed from juvenile retinochisis that took his eyesights doesn’t stop him there. He started doing things like other people do like rock climbing, wrestling, and attending college. He graduated with a double major and became a teacher. Life is full challenges, and Erik conquers it all.

7Tashi & Nungshi Malik

These are the first siblings and twins to scaled Mount Everest in 2013. They were also the first siblings and twins to completed the Seven Summits as well. The twins also own other first twins records like reaching North & South Pole on Skis, and more. These Indian sisters were born on 21st of June, 1991, and they are the most successful twins when it comes to adventure.

8Pem Dorjee & Moni Mulepati

Here we have the very first couple to exchanged their vows and married on top of Mount Everest. The Nepalese couple took climbing mountain to another romantic level that not every couple can do. On 30th of May, 2005 Pem Dorjee has succeed climbing the highest mountain for the second time. However, his second adventure is more special because he had his girlfriend with him. And they got married up there which is both special and unique.
