In Rome, do as the Romans do. Each country has their own rules which is why you need some travel tips before packing your bag. Every country always has the prohibition of things that you shouldn’t bring on board.

To avoid getting held up at the airport, try to avoid bringing the things they don’t allow. Here we have some countries that people often travel to along with things that they forbid. Don’t forget to follow the rules, and have fun in your trip!

1. Australia

There are several things that you cannot bring to Australia including:

  • fresh fruit and vegetables
  • live plants and bulbs
  • prohibited and restricted seeds
  • unidentified seeds including spices
  • live animals including pets which required an import permit
  • biological products including some plant based and herbal medications
  • unprocessed goods of plants or animal origin
  • soiled goods or goods containing organic residues
  • goods knowingly infested with pests or a disease

Also, you have to make sure that everything that is in contact with food, soil, plants, etc., are clean and dry. From camping and sporting equipment to house and kitchenware, they must be dry. You are also not allowed to use second boxes and straw, sawdust, wood shavings, or other plant materials to pack.

2. Germany

There are also many things that you shouldn’t bring when you on board to Germany:

  • medicinal products and narcotics
  • cash (in a total amount of 10,000 euros or more)
  • firework
  • instruments of torture
  • dangerous dogs
  • publications or media likely to harm minors and unconstitutional publications
  • cultural assets
  • food and feedstuffs from non-EU states
  • rough diamonds
  • textiles
  • animals and plants, products that contain animal or vegetable substances
  • weapons and ammunition

3. Israel

You can’t bring any of these 16 things into Israel at all because they are strictly prohibited:

  • offensive or indecent goods
  • forged and counterfeit currency & documents
  • tickets and advertising materials for lotteries and gambling
  • forged or counterfeit selling invoice forms, preference documents, or certificates of origin
  • used sacks that were used for packing plant material
  • knives including pocket knives or knives that intended for use in a profession, business, etc.
  • laser speedometer disruptor
  • pen like or gun like shooting devices
  • tear gas container in the shape of shooting device
  • prohibited games
  • explosives and flammable materials
  • live creatures such as poisonous snakes and similar animals
  • used equipment for bee keepers
  • goods which are used in the preparation or use of dangerous drugs
  • good used for incitement to violence, terrorism or racism
  • goods that contains identification signs with terrorist groups or sympathy towards them

4. Iran

Meanwhile, only 7 main things that Iran does not allow such as:

  • alcoholic drinks
  • gambling tools
  • weapons, ammunition, and explosive goods
  • narcotic drugs
  • magazines, photos, film, and snaps that are against religious and national dignity of the country
  • any type of writings against the official region of the country
  • various types of goods which has legitimate and legal prohibitance

5. Madagascar

If you travel to Madagascar, here are some things that you shouldn’t bring:

  • narcotics or illegal drugs of any kind
  • pornography and subversive materials
  • explosives, ammunition, weapons, military equipment & CB’s, walkie-talkies, GPS, and same sort of telecommunication devices
  • alcohol is prohibited and must be sent separately except Fond de Cave (under 30 bottles)
  • perfume
  • stuffed animals, birds, or fish (taxidermy)
  • animal skins, furs, tusks, horn of endangered species

6. Malaysia

The following items are absolutely prohibited from importation to Malaysia:

  • reproduction of any currency note, bank note, or coin which are currently issued in any country
  • indecent printings, paintings, photographs, books, cards, lithographic, engravings, films, video tapes, laser disc, color slides, computer disc, and any other media
  • any device which intended to be prejudicial to the interest of Malaysia or unsuited with peace
  • all genuses of Piranha fish
  • turtle eggs
  • cocoa pods, rambutans, pulasan, longan, and nam nam fruits from Philippines and Indonesia
  • intoxicating liquors containing more than 3.46 milligrams per liter in any lead or in any compound of copper
  • daggers and flick knives
  • broadcast receivers capable of receiving radio communication within the ranges (68-87) and (108-174) MHz
  • sodium arsenate
  • cloth bearing the imprint or duplicate of any verses of the Quran
  • pen, pencil, and other articles resembling syringes
  • poisonous chemical
  • lighting arresters containing radioactive material

7. Philippines

There are certain things that you cannot bring with you to Philippines, and those are:

  • drugs (marijuana, cocaine, and other narcotic or synthetic drugs)
  • weapons, explosives, and ammunitions
  • plants and seeds without certificate
  • uncensored materials

8. Singapore

Rules are simple in Singapore, there are just several things that you cannot bring including:

  • chewing gum
  • cigarette lighters
  • E-cigarettes and chewing tobacco
  • fire crackers
  • rhinoceros horn, worked, unworked, or prepared and worked and powder of this product
  • telecommunication equipment

9. The United States

Going to the U.S is not a trouble when you avoid bringing these things below:

  • absinthe
  • soil
  • screwdrivers and adjustable wrenches
  • lottery tickets
  • goods produced in Cuba, Iran, Sudan, Myanmar, and North Korea
