If you look up to the sky as you drive, you will see different types of clouds in various places. Do you know that those clouds can tell you about the upcoming or exiting weather? Of course, black clouds represents rain, storm, or similar sort of weather. But there are more than that. You can take a look at these cloud types here and see what kind of weather they bring to you. 1. Altocumulus

If you wake up in the sunny morning, you will be likely to see altocumulus clouds very often. These clouds represent the areas of rising moist air along with dry and sinking air. It is always a sunny morning or stuffy evening every time these clouds appear.

2. Altostratus

This is the type of cloud that you will see every time before rain is about to pour down. Altostratus cloud is large sheet of clouds that covers a large area of the sky. These clouds carry water droplets and ice crystals with them, and that is why it rains when you see them above you.

3. Cirrocumulus Clouds

Cirrocumulus clouds are the small rounded white puffs that appear in long rows up to 5 kilometers in the sky. If you see this type of cloud, you will be able to know that there is an upcoming rain.

4. Cirrostratus

This is the high level cloud that forms like a veil or thin sheet over the sky. If you drive or walk under cirrostratus cloud, you will get the sun-halo effect. And that is the sign of warm front is coming closer.

It is also the high level cloud with feathery and wispy kind of look. These clouds entirely composed of ice crystals, and they are the first sign of an approaching warm front.

6. Cumulus

Our childhood type of cloud, it is the cloud we usually draw when were kids. The puffy cumulus clouds that looks as if they travel on their own have flat bottoms and rounded tops. This is a sign of a good day, there will be no or just little precipitation when you see these clouds. The perfect cloud of summer, picnic, and adventures.

7. Cumulus Congestus

Don’t let this fluffy cotton candy cloud fool you because this is the cloud that leads to a thunderstorm cloud. If there is enough instability, moisture, and lift, this cute cloud will turn into a black cloud.

8. Cumulonimbus

The bigger cumulonimbus cloud gets, the more lighting and thunder it produces in the rain. They might look nice, but they are not that kind at all when their partner ‘rain’ comes.

9. Nimbostratus

Here we have the thick and dense stratus clouds that generally produce steady rain or snow. If the sky gets dark, look up and you will see these cloud above you.

10. Stratocumulus

The name is from the combination of stratus and cumulus clouds together. This type of cloud is likely to be large, dark, and rounded that usually appear in lines, waves, or groups. They don’t usually produce any precipitation, but when they do, there will be only light rain or snow.

11. Stratus

We are all familiar with stratus clouds since they are not really good news at all. If you see stratus clouds in warm days, that means there will be rain coming soon. And if you see these huge gray blanket in the sky in cold days, snow will be coming any time.

12. Wall Clouds

By the look, you can tell that nothing fun is coming towards you. Wall clouds aka Pedestal clouds come with many different shapes and sizes, all are bad news. These clouds have a high chance of leading to tornadoes, but sometimes they don’t.
